Central European Exchange Program Scholarship 2026–2027 (Fully Funded)

CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies) is a fully funded mobility program that allows students and teachers from Central Europe and the Western Balkans to study, conduct research, or teach abroad in member countries. It offers semester-long stays, short-term research mobility, summer schools, and teacher exchanges at prestigious universities across the region.

The program is open to all academic fields with no priority restrictions. It provides a monthly stipend tailored to the host country’s living costs, tuition fee exemption, and academic credit recognition. There is no application fee.     • Network Mobility (Winter Semester): 31 August
    • Network Mobility (Summer Semester): 31 December
    • Freemover Mobility: Rolling / continuously (check specific openings)

Types of mobility:

Mobility takes place in the framework of CEEPUS networks. If you study/teach at a university that does not participate in a CEEPUS network, you may join the programme as a Freemover.

Student mobility:

  • Eligible applicants: Bachelor, Master and PhD students
  • Length of mobility: 1 semester, 3-5 months
  • Activity during the mobility period: attending lectures and seminars, and obtaining credits are obligatory, which can be supplemented with an internship. The proposed activities should be described in the ’Motivation’ part of the application.
  • Student mobility can be submitted in a network or as a Freemover application.

Short-term student mobility:

  • Eligible applicants: Bachelor’s, Master’s students who are currently working on their thesis and PhD students
  • Length of mobility: 1-2 months
  • Activity during the mobility period: consultation, research activity, and laboratory work relating to the thesis/dissertation are obligatory. The topic of the thesis/dissertation and the planned activities should be described in the „Motivation” part of the application.
  • Short-term student mobility can be submitted in a network or as a Freemover application

Teacher mobility:

  • Mandatory teaching and/or thesis supervising activity at the host institution: minimum 6 teaching/supervising hours (lecture, seminar or consultation).
  • Length of stay: minimum 5 working days
  • Timing: teaching activity only during semesters.
  • Teacher mobility can be submitted in a network or as a Freemover application.
  • Research activities, conference visits, partner meetings, etc,. cannot be the only aim of a teacher’s mobility.

Freemover mobility:

If you study at a university without a CEEPUS network, you may join the programme as a freemover.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You must be an enrolled student or teacher at an accredited university in one of the CEEPUS member countries.
  • Students must have completed at least two semesters of studies.
  • For short-term mobility: Bachelor’s/Master’s students working on their thesis or PhD candidates.
  • Teachers must commit to at least 6 hours of teaching or thesis supervision.
  • You cannot apply for mobility in your home country (citizenship or residence).
  • No double funding allowed for the same period and destination.
  • Your home institution may have additional selection criteria.

Note: Citizens of non-member countries enrolled in member country institutions may also be eligible.

  1. Visit the official portal, log in to “My CEEPUS” (Check the link below)
  2. Use the Mobility Wizard to start your application.
  3. For Network Mobility Get approval from both home and host network coordinators.
  4. For Freemover Contact your chosen Hungarian (or other host) university and secure a Letter of Acceptance.
  5. Submit all required documents, including motivation letter, study plan, and academic transcripts.
  6. Await nomination and final selection by the host institution.
