TWAS-CSIR Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2026 (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the TWAS-CSIR Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2026. This fully funded opportunity is offered by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) India in partnership with UNESCO-TWAS. It supports outstanding young scientists from developing countries to pursue PhD research in India in various fields of science and technology. The extended deadline is 03 June 2026. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a national of a developing country other than India
  • Be 35 years old or younger on 31 December of the application year
  • Hold a Masters degree in science or technology
  • Be currently employed in your home country with a research assignment
  • Not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or any developed country
  • Secure an official acceptance letter from a CSIR laboratory or institute
  • Show proof of English proficiency if your previous education was not in English
  • Agree to return to your home country after completing the fellowship
  • Be ready to register for a PhD in India (for full-time) or already registered in your home country (for sandwich)

How to Apply:

  1. Contact your preferred CSIR laboratory or institute as soon as possible and request an official acceptance letter.
  2. Prepare all supporting documents including your Masters degree certificate and proof of employment.
  3. For sandwich applicants, obtain the Registration and No Objection Certificate from your home university.
  4. Submit your complete application online through the official TWAS portal before 03 June 2026.

Important Note: Applications without a preliminary acceptance letter from a CSIR institute will not be considered.
