Global South Fellowship Program (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the Global South Fellowship Program. This fully funded opportunity supports early-career researchers from the Global South for a three-month research visit at the University of Birmingham in the UK or the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the USA.

The program focuses on education access and equity, global health, and sustainability and climate action, with some flexibility for related fields. Selected fellows will receive travel funding, a monthly stipend, and the chance to build international research collaborations. There is no application fee. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have completed a PhD (doctorate)
  • Must be an early-career researcher from a university in the Global South
  • Must identify and contact a suitable academic host at either the University of Birmingham or the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
  • No fixed definition of early-career. It depends on the discipline and individual background
