This is a fully funded 6-month research fellowship offered to outstanding young researchers from around the world. Selected fellows will conduct advanced research in Japan at a university or research institution of their choice. The program is open to candidates in natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and agriculture. The application deadline is 30 June 2026. There is no application fee. Eligibility Criteria:
- Hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of application
- Be 45 years old or younger (born on or after 1 January 1981)
- Be a citizen of any country other than Japan
- Have never lived in Japan before (except for very short visits like conferences or sightseeing)
- Currently hold a full-time job in your home country and plan to return after the fellowship
- Have already received acceptance from a professor/host institution in Japan
- Have good English or Japanese language skills
