Applications are now open for the European Parliament Traineeships, a paid opportunity for graduates and students who want to work inside one of the most important institutions in Europe. The Schuman Traineeships cover fields such as law, finance, communication, IT, multilingualism and EU policy, and are held in Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg or a Parliament Liaison Office in an EU country. The application deadline for the traineeship starting on 1 March 2027 is 31 October 2026.
The traineeships are paid, so you receive a monthly grant instead of working for free, but they are not described as fully funded, so check the grant amount and costs such as travel before you apply. Applicants from EU Member States and accession or candidate countries can apply, and a very limited number of places are open to other nationalities. The official information mentions no application fee. You can check out BS, MS, PhD and postdoc positions here.

Traineeships in the Secretariat – Schuman Traineeships:
The Schuman traineeships are paid and can be completed at any of the European Parliament’s official places of work: Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg. They can also be completed in the Parliament’s Liaison Offices in the Member States.
They are named after Robert Schuman, one of the main architects of European integration. He proposed pooling French and German coal and steel production, which led to the European Coal and Steel Community. That was the first of the European Communities, which grew into the European Union.
Why Should You Apply?
A Schuman traineeship will enhance your education and vocational training. It gives you an insight into the work of the EU institutions and of the European Parliament, a crucial forum for decision making and political debate at EU level.
Schuman traineeships are available in a wide variety of fields:
- EU Internal Policies
- EU External Policies
- Finance
- Law
- Multilingualism
- Administration
- Infrastructure and Logistics
- Communication
- IT
The European Parliament is an equal opportunities employer. Candidates of any gender, sexual orientation, cultural, ethnic or religious background, or with a disability, are encouraged to apply. Reasonable accommodation is available for successful candidates with disabilities who may need it.
