Canon Foundation Research Fellowship 2027 (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the Canon Foundation Research Fellowship, a prestigious international research grant designed to foster academic collaboration between Europe and Japan. The Canon Foundation in Europe offers up to 15 fully-funded fellowships annually to highly qualified researchers from European and Japanese institutions. This scholarship is open to researchers at the Master’s and PhD levels from all academic disciplines and fields of study, with no restrictions or limitations. There is no application fee required to apply.

Fellowships support research periods ranging from a minimum of three months to a maximum of one year, with each fellow receiving up to EUR 30,000 per year to cover all research-related expenses. European researchers are expected to conduct their research in Japan, while Japanese researchers are expected to pursue their studies in Europe. Eligibility Criteria:

Hold European or Japanese nationality, or have permanent resident status in an eligible country
Have obtained at least a Master’s degree or PhD within the last ten years before your application
Candidates who obtained their qualification more than ten years ago may be considered if they provide additional supporting information and documentation
If European, you must have permanent citizenship in one of the eligible European countries
Be willing to conduct research in the opposite region (Europeans in Japan, Japanese in Europe)
Have secured a commitment from a host institution in your destination country
You do not need to be currently enrolled or employed at any institution at the time of applying
Priority is given to applicants traveling to Europe or Japan for the first time
You must have reached an agreement on cooperation and a detailed research plan with your proposed host
