Eligibility Criteria:
- Hold European or Japanese nationality, or have permanent resident status in an eligible country
- Have obtained at least a Master’s degree or PhD within the last ten years before your application
- Candidates who obtained their qualification more than ten years ago may be considered if they provide additional supporting information and documentation
- If European, you must have permanent citizenship in one of the eligible European countries
- Be willing to conduct research in the opposite region (Europeans in Japan, Japanese in Europe)
- Have secured a commitment from a host institution in your destination country
- You do not need to be currently enrolled or employed at any institution at the time of applying
- Priority is given to applicants traveling to Europe or Japan for the first time
- You must have reached an agreement on cooperation and a detailed research plan with your proposed host
