FIAS Fellowship Programme 2027/2028 in France

Applications are now open for the French Institutes for Advanced Study (FIAS) Fellowship Programme 2027/2028. This fully funded 10-month residential fellowship offers international researchers the chance to conduct innovative research in France with full academic freedom.

It is open to experienced researchers in Social Sciences and Humanities and related fields. The programme provides a generous monthly living allowance, accommodation support, research budget, and more. There is no application fee. Application deadline: 25 June 2026 (6:00 pm Paris time). Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, you must meet all the following requirements:

  • Hold a PhD degree and have at least 2 years of full-time research experience after the PhD (PhD training period is not counted).
  • Come from any country, but you must not have lived or worked in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years before the deadline.
  • Submit a complete application in English only.
  • Propose an individual research project (collective projects are not eligible).
  • Choose only one of the 7 participating Institutes.

The programme welcomes applications from researchers of all career stages and strongly supports diversity and equal opportunities.
