University of Pavia, Italy PhD Scholarships 2026/2027 (42nd Cycle)

Applications are now open for the University of Pavia PhD programmes (42nd Cycle) for the academic year 2026/2027. This is a fully funded opportunity for international and Italian students to pursue doctoral studies in Italy. Selected candidates receive a generous scholarship along with additional research support.

• An annual gross scholarship of €16,243, paid in monthly installments
• A 50 percent increase in the scholarship amount for authorized research periods abroad (up to 12 to 18 months)
• A dedicated research budget equal to 10 percent of the scholarship for activities in Italy and abroad

Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (Italian Laurea Magistrale or equivalent second-level degree) or expect to graduate no later than 31 October 2026
• Open to applicants of all ages and nationalities (unless specific restrictions apply in some programmes)
• Strong academic record and research potential
• Knowledge of English or another foreign language required by the chosen programme
• For some positions, additional requirements apply (such as employment in a company for industrial PhDs)
