The program is open to international students from all nationalities who hold a valid passport from a country other than Taiwan and can provide proof of enrollment at an accredited university. Eligibility Criteria:
- Be currently enrolled as a student at an accredited university
- Provide documentary evidence of your student status from your university that covers the entire duration of your internship (before and after)
- Hold a valid passport from a country other than Taiwan (ROC)
- Be available for a minimum of 10 weeks (for summer internships) or your agreed-upon duration
- Be willing to work in English (or meet Mandarin requirements if specified in the job description)
- Obtain an ROC visa before traveling to Taiwan (ITRI will secure internship work permission)
Additional Considerations for Specific Groups
Foreign Males of Taiwanese Descent:
- Must be between ages 18-40 (inclusive) with a foreign passport
- Should not stay in Taiwan for more than 4 months to avoid conscription issues
- Consult your nearest ROC embassy or the Ministry of the Interior for detailed military service information
ROC Citizens (Not Eligible for This Program):
- If you hold only ROC citizenship without a foreign passport, you are not eligible for this international program
- ITRI offers separate internship opportunities for ROC citizens through individual departments
