Applications are now open for the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship and Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR) at Deakin University in Australia. These prestigious scholarships support high-achieving domestic and international students pursuing full-time research master’s or doctoral (PhD) degrees.

The scholarships are fully funded and provide a generous living stipend, full tuition fee offset, and additional support such as relocation allowance and health cover for international students. There is no application fee.Both domestic and international candidates from any nationality can apply. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a domestic or international student enrolling in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at Deakin University
  • Have completed at least four years of tertiary education
  • Achieve 80% or equivalent in the research component of previous study (or demonstrate equivalent academic attainment through work experience, publications, or other research outputs)
  • met all other minimum entry requirements according to the Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection and Enrolment Procedure. 
  • Not be receiving an equivalent scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset research tuition fees
  • Not receive other income exceeding 75% of the stipend rate for general living costs while studying

Entry Requirements by Degree:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

  • A degree at level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework
  • Minimum overall grade equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70%
  • The qualifying degree must be in the relevant area and include a research component equivalent to 25% of the final year’s full-time study
  • The research component must include a dissertation or equivalent assessed outputs with a minimum achievement grade equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70%

Masters Degree by Research

You need:

  • A degree at level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework
  • Minimum achievement grade equivalent to a Deakin grade of 65%
  • The qualifying degree must be in the relevant area and include a research component equivalent to 25% of the final year’s full-time study
  • The research component must include a dissertation or equivalent assessed outputs with a minimum achievement grade equivalent to a Deakin grade of 65%

Master of Philosophy (Medicine)

You must meet at least one of the following:

  • Completion of a masters degree in the same discipline as the proposed research thesis with a minimum achievement grade equivalent to a Deakin grade of 65%
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in the same discipline as the proposed research thesis with a minimum achievement grade equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70% for third-year units
  • Completion of the pre-clinical component of the Doctor of Medicine (or equivalent degree) at the postgraduate level
