Join our dynamic Sustainable Optoelectronics Research Group, led by Prof. Vincenzo Pecunia (PhD Cantab FIMMM PEng SMIEEE), at the School of Sustainable Energy Engineering, Simon Fraser University (Canada).

This PhD project focuses on developing scalable, low-cost printable infrared photodetectors using organic semiconductors and quantum-dot materials. You will work on innovative device architectures at the interface of optoelectronics, materials engineering, and nanotechnology.

Degree: PhD in Sustainable Energy Engineering

Key Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s and Masterโ€™s degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science & Engineering, or closely related disciplines.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory experience in at least one of the following:
    • Organic semiconductors, colloidal quantum dots, or other solution-processable semiconductors
    • Optoelectronic device fabrication and characterization (photodetectors, solar cells, thin-film electronics)
    • Semiconductor characterization techniques (optical spectroscopy, electrical measurements, charge-transport analysis, device modeling)
  • Cumulative GPA of 80% or higher in all prior degrees.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
