Amgen Scholars Asia Program 2026 at NUS (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the prestigious Amgen Scholars Asia Program 2026 at the National University of Singapore (NUS)! This fully funded 8-week summer research opportunity targets undergraduate students passionate about biomedical and biotechnological sciences, offering hands-on lab experience in basic and translational research to inspire future PhD pursuits. The deadline is February 1, 2026, with no application fee required.

Open to undergraduates from eligible Asian countries who have completed at least one year of study, maintain strong academics, demonstrate English proficiency, and commit to returning to studies post-program. About the Program

The Amgen Scholars Program inspires future innovators through summer research at world-class institutions. Launched in the US (2006), Europe (2008), Japan (2015), and joining in Asia at NUS in 2018, it targets undergraduates passionate about biology and related sciences pursuing graduate studies.

You’ll gain 8 weeks of full-time research in basic and translational sciences, guided by faculty from the Department of Biological Sciences and partners at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Eligibility

You must be an undergraduate who:

  • Is enrolled in a college/university in Asia offering a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in relevant fields
  • Has completed at least the first year of study by program start
  • Will not graduate before the program and will return to studies for at least one semester/quarter after

Additional requirements:

  • Strong academic record
  • Good English proficiency (non-native speakers or non-English medium universities need one of: TOEFL iBT 72+, IELTS 5.5+, Cambridge FCE, TOEIC 1095+, TOEIC L&R 785+, TOEIC S&W 310+). A university letter confirming English-medium instruction works too.
  • Interest in a Ph.D.

Participant Expectations

This is a full-time commitment. No courses or jobs allowed. Attend the entire program, including the Asia Symposium in Tokyo.

You must:

  • Live in NUS-provided accommodation
  • Engage fully in lab life, respect team members, and join meetings
  • Complete lab safety training and test
  • Attend orientation, events, and social activities
  • Deliver a poster and oral presentation on your project
  • Submit a final written report
  • Present at the Amgen Scholars Asia Symposium 2026 in Tokyo, Japan
