Tsinghua University SIGS Scholarship 2027 for MS & PhD

Applications are now open for the Tsinghua University SIGS Scholarship 2027 in Shenzhen, China. International students can apply for Master’s and Doctoral programs in engineering, science, business, design, finance and more. The final application deadline is May 15, 2027, but students who want a scholarship should apply by December 2026. Funding includes the fully funded Chinese Government Scholarship as well as partial tuition waivers from the university and school. What This Scholarship Offers:

Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)

This is the main fully funded option. It usually gives you:

• Free tuition, so you pay nothing for your degree
• A monthly stipend to cover daily costs
• An accommodation subsidy
• Medical insurance

Other Scholarships

• Tuition Scholarship (University Level): Covers full or part of your tuition for one academic year. You can apply again every year.
• SIGS International Student Scholarship (School Level): Gives you a tuition fee waiver based on your grades, research and overall performance.
• Institute and Program Scholarships: Some programs offer their own funding. Ask your chosen program.
• Shenzhen Universiade International Scholarship (SUISF): Open to current students only.

Living Allowance

• Doctoral students receive 3,810 RMB every month
• Master’s students receive 600 RMB every month

Eligibility Criteria:

• You must be a non Chinese citizen with a valid personal ordinary passport.
• Master’s applicants need a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Doctoral applicants need a Master’s degree or equivalent.
• You must be in good health and of good character, and follow China’s laws and Tsinghua’s rules.
• Your Chinese or English level must meet your program’s requirement.
• If you studied your last degree full time in Chinese or English, you can submit a certificate from your university. With the school’s permission, you may skip the language test report.
• Students enrolling in 2027 must have their degree certificate and degree authentication before registration. Overseas degrees need a report from CSCSE. If not, your admission becomes invalid.
• Some programs ask for work experience. Check your program’s remarks.

Extra Rules for Bachelor’s Holders Applying Directly to a Doctoral Program

• You must submit an HSK certificate that meets your program’s level.
• If English is not your first language, you need IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 85 (for tests taken before January 21, 2026). For tests taken on or after January 21, 2026, the TOEFL requirement is 4.5 on the new scale.
• An earlier SIGS guide also asked for a GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 (or 85 out of 100) and HSK Level 4 with 195 marks or more. English program applicants can skip HSK. Please confirm these figures with the admissions office.

Good to Know:

• You can apply to a maximum of two programs each year. If the first is rejected, the second opens automatically.
• You must get a preliminary offer before you apply for any scholarship.
• CGS Type A applicants apply through their local Chinese embassy from November to February. Type B applicants apply from December to February at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login. Tsinghua’s agency number is 10003.
• Tuition Scholarship applications open in June, and SIGS International Student Scholarship applications open from May to July.
• CGS winners cannot apply for the Tuition Scholarship or the SIGS Scholarship.

2. Check the requirements and prepare your documents.
3. Create an account on the application portal: https://yzbm.tsinghua.edu.cn/intlLogin
4. Fill in the form, upload all documents and pay the 800 RMB fee online (WeChat, Alipay or card).
5. Submit before 17:00 Beijing Time on May 15, 2027.
6. Wait for the program to review your file and stay in touch with them. Shortlisted students usually have an interview.
7. After you get a preliminary admission offer, apply for scholarships when your program sends the notice.
