CRG International PhD Programme 2027 in Spain

Applications are now open for the CRG International PhD Programme 2027 at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona, Spain. This is a fully funded PhD opportunity in biomedical sciences, offering a 4 year paid work contract with health insurance and social security coverage.

Eligibility Criteria:

• You can be of any nationality
• You hold a University Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in biomedical sciences within the European Higher Education System (minimum 300 ECTS), or an equivalent University Degree that allows you to start a PhD in Spain
• If you expect to be awarded your degree by September 2027, you are still eligible to apply
• You have an excellent academic record, previous research experience, and a strong commitment to scientific research
• You have a high working knowledge of English

Who Is Not Eligible

• Candidates who were invited to interviews in previous CRG PhD calls
• Candidates currently doing their Master’s at the CRG
• Candidates who worked at the CRG for more than 3 months before the deadline

If your transcripts are not in Catalan, Spanish, or English, attach a translation in one of those languages. If you do not have your Master’s transcripts yet, upload an official document proving your enrolment in a Master’s programme and/or an official document stating that your transcripts are being issued.

Selection Process:

• Selection is based on academic qualifications and research excellence.

Stage 1: Preselection

• The CRG reviews your application, reference letters, research interests, motivation, and fit to the labs you selected. Preselected candidates are invited to an online panel interview on 13 January 2027.

Stage 2: On Site Interviews in Barcelona

• Candidates who pass the panel interview are invited to the CRG from 23 to 26 February 2027. Interviews and presentations take place on all of these days, and full details are sent to invited candidates.

Stage 3: Offers

• Offers are made to successful candidates shortly after the interviews. Successful candidates are expected to start no later than October 2027.

2. Click “Start new application” and save your personal details
3. Check your email for the confirmation message with your login information
4. Fill in the application form. You can save it and return any time before the deadline
5. Choose up to two CRG research labs
6. Enter the names and contact details of two referees
7. Click “Send Request” so your referees receive instructions to upload their letters
8. Review everything carefully, then submit before the deadline
