The Asia Foundation Development Fellows Program 2027

Applications are now open for The Asia Foundation Development Fellows Program, a prestigious year-long professional advancement initiative designed for emerging leaders across Asia and the Pacific. This partially funded scholarship provides 12 highly qualified young professionals under 40 with an exceptional opportunity to advance their careers in international development.

Each fellow receives a Professional Development Award of up to USD 2,500, plus coverage of all program costs including international travel and accommodation for two major in-person programs (spring in Asia and fall in the United States). Eligibility Criteria:

Demonstrate a record of experience and accomplishment in at least one of these fields: governance, economic development, women’s empowerment, environmental resilience, education and leadership, or international cooperation
Be recognized as a thoughtful, committed, respected, and inspirational leader within your professional field and community
Be under 40 years of age by January of the program start
Be conversant in English (TOEFL exam results are not required)
Be a resident national or citizen of an eligible country or region
Be available and able to participate in all program components on the specified program dates
Be able to secure a visa for travel to the United States
