PhD Positions at ELLIS Institute Finland and Tampere University:

Fully funded 4-year positions are available for Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

Key Requirements

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch with hands-on experience in deep learning
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken, IELTS 6.5 or equivalent)
• Motivation for independent research and publishing at top venues

The positions include comprehensive benefits according to Tampere University policies and the Finnish social security system. Eligible members may later be nominated as official ELLIS PhDs through the ELLIS PhD Program.

Research Internships:

Applications are open year-round for motivated students and collaborators seeking opportunities longer than 3 months. Formats include research internships, thesis supervision (Bachelor’s or Master’s), visiting student roles, and research collaborations, either on-site or remote. Paid positions are not the priority and are highly selective.
