Scotland Pakistan BS & MS Scholarships 2026-27

The Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls 2026-27 are funded by the Scottish Government and administered by the British Council in Pakistan. These grants make higher education more accessible for Pakistani women, helping them achieve their full potential. Young women with disabilities, from rural areas, or belonging to minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply:

The scholarships are available for Pakistani women at two levels:

  • Undergraduate
    • A four-year bachelor’s degree
  • Graduate
    • A two-year master’s/MPhil degree

Both degrees must be in one of the eligible fields listed below, at any Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognised university in Pakistan.

To apply for the bachelor’s level, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You are a Pakistani woman currently living in Pakistan
  • You have completed your 12 years of schooling
  • Your chosen bachelor’s programme is no longer than four years
  • You have a confirmed admission offer from an HEC-recognised university
  • You are applying for one of the eligible subject areas listed above

Key Eligibility Requirements for Master’s/MPhil Programme

To apply for the master’s/MPhil level, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You are a Pakistani woman currently living in Pakistan
  • You have completed your 16 years of education (or hold an HEC-recognised bachelor’s degree)
  • Your chosen master’s/MPhil programme is no longer than two years
  • You have a confirmed admission offer from an HEC-recognised university
  • You are applying for one of the eligible subject areas listed above

There is no age limit. The scholarship is open to both married and unmarried women. It does not fund PhD programmes.

Eligible Subject Areas:

The scholarship supports studies in these exact fields only:

  • Education
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Food Security and Agriculture
  • Health Sciences (Medical Sciences are not included)
  • STEM Engineering (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
  • Climate Change

This scholarship is not available for social sciences such as economics, business studies, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or history.

What the Scholarship Covers:

The Scotland Pakistan Scholarship covers:

  • Full tuition fees for the current and all coming semesters (previous semesters are not reimbursed)
  • University hostel costs (where applicable)
  • Two annual return airfares for students living in on-campus hostels
  • For master’s programmes only: additional funds for research work, including access to quality labs, equipment, and tools

Application Process and Timeline:

The British Council does not provide an online tracking system. Here is the current timeline:

  • Application deadline: 31 August 2026
  • Candidates shortlisted for interviews: end of September or early October 2026
  • Interviews held: mid-October to early November 2026
  • Scholarship offers made: end of November to early December 2026 (tentative dates)

Only successful candidates will be notified. If you have not heard back by the end of September or early October, you were not shortlisted.

Supporting Documents You Must Submit:

Prepare these documents in advance:

  • Copy of CNIC or Form B (applicant)
  • Copy of CNIC or Form B (parent/guardian)
  • Latest salary slips (or pension slip if retired) of your parent/guardian
  • Copy of your most recent educational certificate or result sheet
  • Copy of your university admission offer letter
  • University tuition fee schedule and hostel fee schedule (if you will live in university accommodation)
  • Scanned copy of any disability certificate or medical proof (only if you have a disability)

Note: For students whose parents work in the informal sector (for example, as farmers), mention the sector clearly on the form and provide a rough estimate of monthly income. Include full contact details and your CNIC/Form B copy so the British Council can verify the information.

Proof of Admission:

Any document that confirms your acceptance into the university, including:

  • Your name and department
  • The exact programme you will study
  • The date your studies start
  • The year your degree will be awarded

I Want to Pursue a Master’s or Bachelor’s in an International University. Am I Eligible to Apply for This Scholarship?

  • The Scotland Pakistan Scholarship for Young Women and Girls is only being offered to female candidates who are pursuing a master’s/MPhil or bachelor’s in a Pakistani university.
  • This scholarship is not for international studies.
