These scholarships support Master’s and Doctoral studies at Walailak University in Thailand across Health Sciences, Science and Technology, and Social Sciences (Humanities and Social Sciences). They include full tuition waivers (some with a semester stipend) and partial tuition waivers for recipients of external funding.
The scholarships are open to high-potential applicants of all nationalities who meet the academic and English proficiency requirements. There is a non-refundable application fee of 500 THB. What This Scholarship Offers:
Successful recipients receive significant financial support that reduces or removes the cost of tuition, allowing them to focus fully on research and studies.
For Doctoral programs:
- Full tuition waiver for SEA (Employed Applicants) and SGA (General Applicants)
- Semester stipend of 20,000 THB for SEA recipients
- Partial tuition fee waiver for Ext. Fund (External Funding) recipients
For Master’s programs:
- Full tuition waiver (for those intending to continue to PhD at Walailak University)
- Full or partial tuition waiver for Ext. Fund recipients
Recipients also gain valuable experience as teaching assistants (TA) or research assistants (RA), strengthening their academic and professional skills. The scholarship supports the production of high-quality research publications in Scopus-indexed journals, enhancing the recipient’s academic profile and career prospects. Duration is up to 6–8 semesters for Doctoral studies and 4 consecutive semesters for Master’s studies, provided all conditions are met.

Scholarship Recipients Selection Method:
The Graduate Program Committee of each curriculum selects qualified candidates who meet these conditions:
- Are qualified according to item 3
- Are personnel with high potential and a tendency to publish research results before graduation
- Have other qualifications at the discretion of the Graduate Program Committee
The College of Graduate Studies, Walailak University, proposes a qualified list of those who passed deliberation and deserve the scholarship to the Graduate Scholarship Allocation Committee.

Announcement of Selection and Students Monitoring
The College of Graduate Studies, Walailak University, announces the selection results for all types of scholarships and monitors scholarship recipients every academic semester until their scholarship status ends.
Termination of Scholarships
The scholarship status ends when any of the following criteria are met:
Scholarship recipients must pass the proposal examination within the specified period.
- Master degree: within a period of two (2) semesters, counting from the first semester
- Upon completing studies at the educational level for which the scholarship was awarded
- Upon the student status at Walailak University expires
- Upon fulfilling the conditions of the scholarship period as stated
- The research progress is below the defined threshold of the curriculum, school, or college
- If there is misconduct, academic dishonesty, or disciplinary suspension from the university, or any other behavior deemed appropriate for scholarship termination by the thesis advisory committee with the approval of the graduate program committee
- Unable to study research full time
Other Conditions
- Scholarship recipients must complete the requirements as indicated before being approved for finishing the degree.
- In case scholarship recipients experience circumstances leading to the termination of the scholarship according to clauses , they will be responsible for reimbursing the university for the entire scholarship amount.
- The program, school, or college will conduct academic monitoring of scholarship recipients every semester.
- Study leave for scholarship recipients is carried out following the regulations of Walailak University. Scholarship recipients are responsible for paying the fees for study leave of absence themselves. It shall be considered that the recipient of the scholarship does not wish to receive scholarship support for that semester.
- Students in the due time under the scholarship agreement period but who have not yet completed their studies are responsible for all expenses incurred after the contract expiration date. They will be responsible for all these expenses themselves.
Submitting Work for Completing Graduation
- Scholarship recipients submit reprint(s) of published works in academic journals or accepted letters to publish in academic journals when applying for graduation.
Termination of Studies and Scholarship Reimbursement
In the event that a scholarship recipient is terminated from studies or scholarship eligibility according to , the student must reimburse the university for the amount received within the specified timeframe. In case of default in payment, the recipient must reimburse the entire amount plus interest at a rate not exceeding the legal limit.
The scholarships apply to students enrolling from the academic year 2026 onwards. If the conditions of the scholarships are not met, the College of Graduate Studies shall present recommendations from the Graduate Scholarship Allocation Committee and propose a decision from the president. The decision of the president shall be final.
