Applications are now open for the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan. This fully funded program offers young overseas researchers the chance to conduct collaborative research for 12 to 24 months at Japanese universities and research institutions. It is open to all academic fields in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. There is no application fee. Researchers from countries with diplomatic relations with Japan who earned their PhD within the last six years are eligible to apply through a Japanese host researcher. Eligibility Criteria:
- Hold citizenship of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan (Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers are treated as eligible)
- Have obtained a doctoral degree within six years before the fellowship start date (as of April 1 of the fiscal year)
- Maternity or parental leave time is deducted from the six-year period
- Not have previously received a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship under the Standard or Pathway programs
- Not be a Japanese citizen or hold permanent residency in Japan
- Host Researcher Requirements The Japanese host must be a full-time researcher (or equivalent) at an eligible institution and can sponsor up to three candidates.
