Stanford’s Asia-Pacific Research Center Fellowships (2026/27)

Applications are now open for a range of prestigious fellowships at Stanford University’s Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC), starting in Fall 2026. These fellowships focus on contemporary Asian studies, covering fields such as health policy, contemporary Japan, political and economic change, and social, cultural, and political challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.

Open to recent PhD graduates and, for certain positions, professionals from the Asia-Pacific region, the fellowships include postdoctoral positions (1-2 years) and visiting fellow roles (1 year). Application deadlines are December 1, 2025, for most programs and March 1, 2026, for visiting fellow positions. There is no application fee for any of these fellowships. The Stanford Next Asia Policy Lab (SNAPL), led by Korea Program Director Gi-Wook Shin, focuses on addressing social, cultural, economic, and political challenges in Asia. SNAPL offers postdoctoral fellowships (2 years) and visiting fellow positions (1 year) under four research themes:
