USTC Research Internship 2026 (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) Research Internship Program 2026! This prestigious program offers graduate and 3rd/4th-year undergraduate students the chance to engage in cutting-edge research in various fields, including science, technology, and engineering, at one of China’s top universities. Non-Chinese citizens aged 18–40, enrolled in full-time undergraduate (Year 3/4), Master’s, or Ph.D. programs, with a good command of English, are eligible to apply.   • Duration: 3 months to 1 year
  • Application Deadline: 30th September 2025
  • Funding Options:
    • Level A: Fully funded (tuition waiver, insurance, free dormitory, stipend: 2,500–3,500 RMB/month)
    • Level B: Partially funded (tuition waiver, insurance, free dormitory)
    • Level C: Partially funded (tuition waiver)
    • Self-Financed: Tuition (2,100–2,600 RMB/month), insurance (160 RMB/month), accommodation (500–1,000 RMB/month)

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid foreign passport.
  • Be aged 18–40 years.
  • Be in good health with no criminal record.
  • Be a full-time 3rd/4th-year undergraduate, Master’s, or Ph.D. student.
  • Have a strong command of English.

Application Process

  1. Secure pre-acceptance from a USTC professor in your research field (supervisor profiles, school websites).
  2. Register online, select “Non-degree program → Research Internship,” complete the form, upload required documents, and submit.

Visa, Insurance, and Accommodation

  • Visa: Apply for a Chinese Student Visa using the JW202 form and admission notice
  • Insurance: Mandatory, purchased by USTC (160 RMB/month)
  • Accommodation:
    • Level A/B: On-campus (first-come, first-served) or off-campus if full
    • Level C/Self-Financed: Off-campus with USTC assistance; must register with local police
