Internship Responsibilities

Interns will support UNDP’s digital transformation in one or more of the following areas:

1. Inclusive Digital Ecosystems

  • Shape rights-based, inclusive local digital ecosystems.
  • Support equitable and secure digital and data public infrastructure.
  • Conduct research on digital inclusion, ethical technology, and AI.
  • Create advocacy content for social media, blogs, and briefing notes.

2. Country Office Support & Capacity Building

  • Assess countries’ digital and AI readiness.
  • Support national data and AI strategies, including project management.
  • Develop accessible digital, data, and AI capacity-building resources.
  • Support initiatives like AI trust, green computing, and multilingual AI.

3. UNDP Digital Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Research digital topics for UNDP’s global thought leadership.
  • Maintain UNDP’s digital guides webpage.
  • Analyze Digital Strategy progress through data and reporting.
  • Provide front-office support to the Chief Digital Officer, including drafting speeches.

4. Business Operations

  • Track and monitor resourcing plans.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement and recruitment policies.
  • Propose solutions to boost productivity.

5. Thought Leadership, Engagement, and Partnerships

  • Research potential partners (tech companies, nonprofits, etc.).
  • Draft partnership documents like proposals and MoUs.
  • Support strategic communications via social media, newsletters, and blogs.
  • Engage in UN interagency processes and events.

6. Product Design, Build, and Management

  • Design digital products like apps, platforms, and AI tools.
  • Support product scoping, development, and user testing.
  • Collaborate with local teams to implement digital products in countries.

7. UNDP Transformation: Change Management

  • Manage Communities of Practice for knowledge sharing.
  • Track progress on digital transformation initiatives.
  • Contribute to internal communications and knowledge products.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Enrolled in a graduate school program (master’s or higher).
  • In the final year of an undergraduate program (bachelor’s or equivalent).
  • Graduated with a university degree (bachelor’s or master’s) and start within one year of graduation.

Additional Skills

  • Interest or experience in digital transformation, AI, or data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.
  • Database management and administrative experience (preferred).
