Applications are now open for the TWAS Visiting Expert Programme, a unique opportunity for institutions in developing countries, especially Least Developed Countries (LDCs), to collaborate with internationally renowned scientists. This programme supports visits in natural sciences (excluding mathematics and physics) to foster long-term research partnerships and capacity-building.
The deadline for applications is 6 October 2025. TWAS provides funding, covering round-trip economy class travel for the visiting expert, while the host institution is responsible for local expenses. Eligible applicants include institutions in developing countries inviting PhD-holding scientists of any age with international recognition. Application Process
Applications must be submitted via the online portal. To apply:
- Visit the TWAS website and click the “Apply Now” button.
- Complete the online application form, including:
- A brief CV of the Visiting Expert (max 10 pages) with a list of publications
- A letter from the Visiting Expert outlining the proposed research and teaching programme
- A supporting statement from the head of the host institution
- Ensure only one TWAS or OWSD programme application is submitted per calendar year.
