Sophie Germain Scholarship 2026 (Fully Funded)

The Sophie Germain Scholarship, offered by the Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard (FMJH), is an excellence scholarship for outstanding students from around the world. It supports enrollment in the prestigious “Mathematics and Applications” Master’s program (M1 or M2) at the University of Paris-Saclay or the Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

This program attracts top talent to one of the world’s leading mathematics hubs on the Paris-Saclay Campus, known for its exceptional research environment. Around 50 scholarships are awarded annually, with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and encouraging research careers in mathematics.

Application Process and Deadlines:

There are two application calls each year:

  • First Call (Recommended for International Students): For students from outside the Paris-Saclay perimeter (including all non-European international students).
    • Currently Open
    • Deadline: February 1, 2026 (11:59 PM Paris time)
    • Referees must submit letters by February 8, 2026
    • Apply early to allow time for visa processing (non-EU students need a Campus France procedure)
  • Second Call: February to early June For students already studying within the Paris-Saclay perimeter
  • Non-EU students: Apply in Wave 1 and get a Campus France file number for visa.

  • Simultaneously apply for admission to your chosen Master’s program via the University of Paris-Saclay or Institut Polytechnique de Paris website
  • Required documents:

    • Transcripts (Bachelor’s and M1 if applicable)
    • Academic CV
    • Contact details for two referees (letters requested automatically)
    • Study plan (max. 2 pages): Explain your background, interest in mathematics, career goals, and any clarifications needed for your record
