Scholarships for Talented International Students in Slovakia 2025/2026 (Fully Funded)

Slovakia, a safe and vibrant country in the heart of Europe, offers scholarships of up to €15,000 for international students to pursue full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees at selected public higher education institutions (HEIs). Benefits

  • Scholarship Value: Up to €5,000 per academic year (€500/month for 10 months, September to June).
  • Covers living costs and other expenses during studies.
  • Duration:
    • 3 years for full-time Bachelor’s or combined Bachelor’s and Master’s programs.
    • 2 years for full-time Master’s programs.
  • Fields of Study: Scholarships support programs aligned with Slovakia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (SK RIS3 2021+). Check the list of eligible study programs for details.
  • Tuition Fees: May be waived for scholarship recipients at public HEIs, subject to the institution’s decision
  • Health Insurance: Scholarship holders may be eligible for public health insurance in Slovakia if not insured in another EU/EEA country or Switzerland. Learn more here.

Who Can Apply?

The scholarship is open to international students worldwide, including Slovaks living abroad, who plan to start full-time Bachelor’s, combined Bachelor’s and Master’s, or Master’s studies at a public Slovak HEI in the 2025/2026 academic year. Doctoral studies are not eligible.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold citizenship of a country other than Slovakia
  • Have no permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia since January 1, 2020, except for specific cases (e.g., Erasmus+, language courses, or prior RRP scholarship for Bachelor’s studies).
  • Have not studied at a Slovak secondary school or HEI, except for academic mobilities.
  • Have completed secondary education (for Bachelor’s applicants) or a Bachelor’s degree (for Master’s applicants) by the 2024/2025 academic year.
  • Be admitted (or have applied) to a full-time, in-person study program at a public Slovak HEI in an eligible field.
  • Submit a structured CV and motivation letter in English (templates available during application).
  • Achieve a minimum SAT score of 1100 (tests taken from January 1, 2020, to July 31, 2025).
  • For applicants under 18, provide a signed consent form from a legal guardian.

Scholarship Details

Number of Scholarships

  • Bachelor’s/Combined Programs: Up to 150 scholarships annually:
    • 100 funded by ESIF (for HEIs outside Bratislava).
    • 50 funded by the state budget (for HEIs in Bratislava).
  • Master’s Programs: Up to 45 scholarships annually:
    • 30 funded by ESIF (outside Bratislava).
    • 15 funded by the state budget (in Bratislava).

How to Apply

Application Deadline

July 31, 2025, 23:59 CET. Submit your application online at the scholarship website. Email submissions are not accepted.

Required Documents

  1. ID or Passport: Certified copy of a valid ID or passport.
  2. Solemn Declaration (Permanent Residence): Confirming no permanent residence in Slovakia since January 1, 2020.
  3. Slovaks Abroad Certificate (if applicable)
  4. Solemn Declaration (Temporary Residence) (if applicable): Confirming no temporary residence or exceptions (e.g., Erasmus+).
  5. Solemn Declaration (Language/Previous RRP Scholarship) (if applicable): For language courses or prior RRP-supported Bachelor’s studies.
  6. Confirmation of Temporary Residence Exception (if applicable): From an HEI for language/professional courses.
  7. Erasmus+/Academic Mobility Confirmation (if applicable): Official certificate or Youthpass.
  8. Legal Guardian Consent (if under 18): Signed template.
  9. SAT Test Results: Minimum score of 1100 (no substitutes allowed).
  10. Acceptance Letter (if available): From a public Slovak HEI.
  11. CV: Structured, in English (template provided).
  12. Motivation Letter: In English, explaining your motivation and talent (template provided).

Note: Original documents must be submitted to the HEI upon enrollment. False documents will result in scholarship withdrawal and repayment.

Selection Process

  • SAT Score: The sole criterion (minimum 1100). Higher scores improve your ranking.
  • Verification: The Ministry and HEIs verify applications and enrollment status.
  • Timeline: After the deadline, a preliminary and final list of successful applicants is released. Contracts are signed, and payments begin once HEIs confirm enrollment.
