Applications are now open for the Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) Scholarship 2026, a fully funded opportunity for international students to pursue master’s, or Ph.D. programs in many fields including Medicine, Pharmacy, Health Sciences and Life Sciences at Taiwan’s leading private medical university. This scholarship, designed for non-R.O.C. nationals, offers comprehensive financial support, including tuition, accommodation, and monthly stipends, depending on the program. Scholarship Benefits

Applicants interested in the KMU International Student Scholarship must fill out the form during your online application submission. The scholarship offers three types of stipends, each with different allowances:

  • Type A: NTD 200,000–260,000 per year (includes monthly stipend, accommodation, and tuition fees)
  • Type B: NTD 80,000–140,000 per year (includes accommodation and tuition fees)
  • Type C: NTD 70,000–80,000 per year (covers tuition fees only)

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the KMU Scholarship 2026, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Nationality: Open to all international students except those with Republic of China (R.O.C.) nationality. Applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, or overseas Chinese communities must meet specific residency rules (e.g., at least 6 years of continuous overseas residence, or 8 years for medical programs).
  • Academic Qualifications:
    • Master’s Programs: Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized university.
    • Ph.D. Programs: Master’s degree or higher from a recognized university.
  • Health: Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy.
  • Other Scholarships: You cannot hold other scholarships simultaneously with the KMU Scholarship.
  • Residency Rules: Applicants must not have studied in Taiwan as overseas Chinese students or been placed by the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students. Those with dual R.O.C. nationality must have renounced it at least 8 years before applying.

Required Documents

Prepare the following documents for your application:

  • Online Application Form: Complete via the KMU application portal.
  • KMU Scholarship Application Form: Required for scholarship consideration.
  • Highest-Level Diploma: Verified by an R.O.C. representative office (include English or Chinese translation if needed).
  • Official Transcripts: Verified by an R.O.C. representative office, covering all relevant semesters.
  • Financial Statement: Proof of financial sustainability (minimum NTD 120,000 or USD 4,000).
  • Proof of Nationality: Valid passport, parents’ passports, or Taiwan Alien Resident Certificate (if applicable).
  • Language Proficiency:
    • Chinese: TOCFL A2 level or equivalent, or proof of a degree taught in Chinese.
    • English: If your previous degree was taught in English, provide an official statement from your university.
  • Study Plan: Written in English or Chinese, outlining your academic goals.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation: In English or Chinese, submitted online by referees.
  • Passport-Style Photo: Recent head-and-shoulders shot (no hats, sunglasses, or tinted glasses).
  • Self-Check Eligibility Form: Refer to KMU’s Appendix 3.
  • Additional Documents: As specified by your chosen department (e.g., academic thesis for Ph.D. applicants).

Application Process

  1. Access the Application Website, select Master/Ph.D. Create a personal account. Applicants may apply to a maximum of three programs.
  2. Carefully read and agree to the Declaration. Please ensure all required fields are filled out; incomplete forms cannot be saved or submitted.
  3. Upload all required documents and pay the application fee (only applicable to applicants for the School of Post-Baccalaureate Medicine). All documents must be uploaded before the application deadline.
  4. Print, sign, and scan the completed application form, then upload the scanned copy to the system.
  5. Provide at least two referees for each program you are applying to.
  6. Click “Submit Application” to finalize and complete the submission process.
