Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:

  • Be of postdoctoral status or have equivalent experience.
  • Have the support of a permanent academic staff member from the School of Law and Social Justice, who will act as your host.
  • Propose a fellowship lasting at least two weeks.

Expectations of Fellows

Successful fellows are expected to:

  • Collaborate: Develop or extend research partnerships with the School’s staff or research clusters.
  • Present: Deliver a work-in-progress lecture or seminar.
  • Engage: Actively participate in the School’s research events and activities.
  • Produce Outputs: Contribute to joint publications or funding applications.
  • Acknowledge Support: Credit the School in any publications or outputs resulting from the fellowship.
  • Write a Blogpost: Submit a short reflective blogpost for the School’s blog.
  • Submit a Report: Provide an End of Fellowship report (up to 1,000 words) detailing activities and achievements.

Benefits for Fellows

The programme offers:

  • Funding: Up to £2,500 for travel, accommodation, or subsistence. Enhanced funding (up to £5,000) is available for collaborators from institutions with limited resources (amount awarded at the School’s discretion).
  • Access to Facilities: Full use of the University’s library, sports facilities, and other services.
  • Workspace: Dedicated office space in the School’s building or the Sydney Jones Library (subject to availability), located just 10 minutes’ walk from Liverpool city centre.
  • Research Opportunities: Participation in the School’s research activities and clusters.
  • Support: Assistance with visa applications and information on living accommodations.

To apply, submit the following:

  1. Summary CV.
  2. Application Form: Complete the 2025-26 Funded International Visiting Fellowship Application Form (Word doc).
  3. Proposal (up to 1,000 words) covering:
    • Your research expertise and reasons for the visit.
    • A detailed plan of proposed activities.
    • How your fellowship will enhance the School’s research culture (e.g., collaborative funding bids, training contributions, or long-term partnerships).
    • Expected outcomes (e.g., publications, external funding, or partnerships).
    • A breakdown of projected costs (travel, accommodation, subsistence) and any co-funding sources.
  4. Supporting Statement: A letter from your collaborating partner in the School of Law and Social Justice.
