European Parliament Sakharov Fellowship 2026 (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the 2026 Sakharov Fellowship Programme by the European Parliament. This is a fully funded opportunity for human rights defenders from non-EU countries to participate in a two-week intensive training programme focused on strengthening advocacy, leadership, and practical skills in human rights work. There is no application fee.

The programme runs from 7–20 June 2026, mainly in Brussels (Belgium) and one other EU Member State. The deadline to apply is 15 February 2026 (midnight CET), with successful candidates notified by email by 9 March 2026. This fellowship is ideal for experienced human rights campaigners looking to gain EU insights, build networks, and become part of a global community of defenders. Eligibility Criteria:

• You must be a human rights defender from a non-EU country.
• You need a proven track record of campaigning for human rights, whether through an NGO, another organisation, or in your individual capacity.
• You must have a high level of English — strong enough to follow discussions, contribute actively, and fully engage in workshops and meetings.
