The Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship is a prestigious five-month program designed to empower young professionals from the Global South who are passionate about addressing climate change and advancing clean energy solutions.
Hosted by Yale University’s International Leadership Center, this fellowship brings together 16 talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to enhance their skills, expand their networks, and collaborate with global climate leaders. You can also check more opportunities here.
Program Overview
This fellowship is a unique opportunity for emerging climate and clean energy practitioners to:
- Enhance Technical Skills: Engage with Yale faculty and global experts to deepen knowledge in clean energy and climate change strategies.
- Build Professional Networks: Connect with peers, mentors, and top practitioners in the field.
- Exchange Ideas: Share experiences and perspectives with like-minded professionals from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America/Caribbean.

- Yale Orientation Week (February 16–20, 2026)
- Remote Learning Journeys (March–June 2026)
- Paris Closing Week (June 15–19, 2026)
Who Can Apply?
The fellowship targets young professionals who are:
- Early to Mid-Career: Between 5–10 years into their careers with demonstrated achievements at a regional, national, or international level.
- From the Global South: Representing countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America/Caribbean.
- Fluent in English: Strong English proficiency is required for full participation.
- Passionate Leaders: Committed to making a positive impact in clean energy or climate change.
- Diverse Professionals: Including public servants, entrepreneurs, energy professionals, financiers, journalists, educators, researchers, civil society representatives, legal advisors, or legislators.
- Availability for:
- In-person attendance during Yale Orientation Week (February 16–20, 2026) and Paris Closing Week (June 15–19, 2026).
- Virtual participation in Remote Learning Journeys and collaborative projects (March–June 2026).
