Fellowship Details
- Duration: 3 consecutive months in Spring 2026 (starting the first day and ending the last day of the month).
- Location: Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Vienna, Austria.
- Stipend:
- Postdoctoral candidates: €3,300/month.
- Doctoral candidates: €2,750/month.
- Benefits:

Fellows will engage in their own research, collaborate with a Senior Visiting Fellow, and participate in the Institute’s activities.
Eligibility
- Open to candidates currently pursuing a doctoral degree or those who obtained a PhD within the last four years (by the application deadline).
- Research should focus on digitalization’s intersection with societal, economic, or geopolitical dimensions, or other relevant humanities and social sciences topics.
- Note: Senior Visiting Fellowships are by invitation only.

Application Process
Applications must be submitted online via the IWM’s application form by 21 September 2025. Email submissions are not accepted.
Required Materials
All materials must be in English and combined into a single PDF with Latin-character file names:
- Letter of Motivation: Explain how you’ll benefit from the fellowship, your connection to IWM’s mission, and your research/writing goals.
- Project Description Summary: Max. 550 characters.
- Project Proposal: Max. 7,500 characters (including spaces), covering:
- Project objectives.
- Current state of the art.
- Research methods.
- Project schedule.
- Curriculum Vitae: Include a list of publications.
- Two Letters of Recommendation: Submitted directly by referees via a webform link sent after your application is submitted.
