Applications are now open for the CERN Short-Term Internship Programme 2026 in Switzerland! This is a paid internship at one of the world’s top science centers. You can work for 1 to 6 months on real projects in many fields like physics, engineering, computing, and more. It is funded through a monthly allowance of about 1,593 Swiss Francs to cover living expenses.
There is no application fee. It is open only to students from CERN Member States or Associate Member States. You must be at least 18 years old and a full-time student in a diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s program (PhD students cannot apply). Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (exceptions for some countries in 2026).
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a full-time student in a diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s program in a related field.
- Stay enrolled as a full-time student during the whole internship.
- Have good knowledge of English (or French).
- Your study field must match one of the available areas.
- PhD students are not eligible.
Your school must provide insurance that works in the Geneva area.
