CBNU G-Cruit Scholarship for Master’s, Ph.D., and Integrated Programs (Study in South Korea)

Applications are now invited for the CBNU G-Cruit Scholarship at Chungbuk National University (CBNU) in South Korea, offering a full tuition waiver for international students pursuing Master’s, Ph.D., or Integrated Master’s/Ph.D. programs across many fields. This scholarship supports approximately 50 students per semester or 100 per year and is perfect for those seeking to study at a globally recognized institution. Eligible applicants include foreign nationals (with both parents being foreign nationals) who meet academic and language requirements or secure a special recommendation from a CBNU professor listed on the G-Cruit platform.

The scholarship covers full tuition but does not include airfare, dormitory, or stipends, though additional financial aid may be discussed with your advisor. A separate application fee may apply for optional Korean language training for Combined program applicants. No application fee is required for the scholarship itself. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the CBNU G-Cruit Scholarship, you must meet either Condition A (all three sub-conditions) or Condition B (special recommendation).

Condition A: Academic and Language Requirements

You must satisfy all of the following:

A-1: Academic Background

Your previous degree must be from a university that meets one of these criteria:

  • A university ranked higher than CBNU in world rankings. Chungbuk National University’s Ranking:
    • QS ranking : 1001-1200
    • THE ranking : 1001-1200
    • Edurank ranking : 1503
  • A university ranked in the top 10 in its country’s comprehensive rankings.
  • Note: If your previous degree is from CBNU, you are not eligible. Degrees from other Korean universities are acceptable.

A-2: Academic Performance

Your overall grades from your previous degree must meet one of these:

  • A percentage score of 85% or higher or within the top 15% of your cohort.
  • A Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of:
    • 3.07/4.0, 3.27/4.3, 3.41/4.5, or 3.79/5.0 or higher.

A-3: Language Proficiency

You must meet one of these language requirements by September 1, 2025:

  • Korean: TOPIK Level 4 or higher.
  • English:
    • TOEFL: 546 (paper-based), 211 (CBT), or 78 (iBT).
    • IELTS: 6.0 or higher.
    • Native English speakers from the USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, or Ireland are exempt.
  • Note: CEFR certificates or other English proficiency tests are not accepted. If you cannot submit a valid score during the application period, provide a test registration receipt and submit the official score later, or the scholarship will be canceled.

  • You must apply through the CBNU G-Cruit Pre-Application and the International Only Admission Track managed by CBNU’s Office of International Affairs (OIA).
  • You are not eligible if you are part of:
    • Global Korea Scholarship (GKS).
    • CBNU School of International Studies.
    • CBNU Global 3+2 BA-MA Linked program.
  • Applicants must be foreign nationals with both parents also being foreign nationals.
