What You’ll Do

As an intern, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in international diplomacy. 1. Economics and Political Section (EPS)

  • What they do: The EPS focuses on understanding France’s political and economic landscape and strengthening UK-France collaboration. The section includes four teams: Bilateral and Political, Economic, Social and Sustainability, European Affairs, and Science and Technology.
  • Your role:
    • Conduct policy analysis, research, and reporting on key issues.
    • Support major Embassy events, such as those tied to COP30 or France’s G7 presidency.
    • Provide administrative support for UK ministerial visits and high-profile events at the Ambassadorial Residence.

  • Your role:
    • Provide strategic advice and analysis to UK policymakers in London.
    • Engage with Paris-based think tanks and support Embassy events on foreign policy.
    • Build relationships with colleagues across the British Government, including the FCDO, MOD, and global Embassies.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Language: Excellent French and English skills (written and spoken, minimum C1 level per CEFR).
  • Education: Currently enrolled in a university degree program related to Political Science, International Relations, Foreign Policy, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, or Public Affairs.
  • Internship Agreement: Must provide a ā€œConvention de Stageā€ from your university and liability insurance covering the internship period.
  • Skills:
    • Interest in UK-France bilateral relations, business, economics, or foreign policy.
    • Proficient in MS Office.
    • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to work independently to solve problems.
