Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the AGS, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Open to Singaporean citizens and other nationalities.
  • Non-Singaporeans and non-Singapore Permanent Residents (non-SPRs) must have completed, or be on track to complete, a degree at a Singapore autonomous university.
  • Applicants must meet the admission requirements and apply for a PhD or EngD programme at an autonomous university in Singapore.
  • Must have achieved, or be expected to achieve, at least a Second Upper Class Honours degree (or its equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Must not hold any other concurrent scholarships or fellowships.
  • Should demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a research career in relevant disciplines.

For Mid-Term AGS Applicants:

  • Must be enrolled in a Singapore autonomous university and have completed at least 1 semester at the time of application.
  • Show excellent academic standing and research potential.
  • Provide at least one academic referee who is your current university supervisor.

Note: A*STAR may include additional criteria based on prevailing policies, which are subject to change.

Steps to Apply

  1. Submit Application: Apply online via the A*STAR AGS portal. For non-Singaporeans, you will need to use google authenticator app while registering with the portal. The image of the form is attached below.
  2. Interview Process:
    • Shortlisted candidates undergo two rounds of interviews. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified.
  3. Notification of Results:
    • From mid-April
    • Successful candidates will be notified via email.
