Research Assistant or Associate in Cryogenic 4D-STEM

Research Associate in Earth Observation

Join the Department of Life Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, at the South Kensington Campus. This full-time, fixed-term position (3 years) investigates microorganisms to valorize plastic waste. Salary: £48,056 – £56,345 per annum (on-site only).

What You’ll Do

  • Identify and develop suitable techniques and apparatus for the collection and analysis of data.
  • Publish in high-quality journals and develop materials for oral and poster presentations, effectively communicating research outcomes to colleagues and presenting findings at conferences.
  • Actively participate in Group research meetings and internal seminars and contribute to the writing of research grant proposals.
  • Provide guidance and direction to undergraduate and postgraduate students, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • PhD (or near completion) in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Practical experience in a research environment with a broad range of techniques, including molecular biology, metabolic engineering, analytical methods, and bioinformatics.
  • Successful track record of academic publications in refereed journals.
  • Knowledge of microbiology, molecular biology, and metabolic engineering, as well as relevant knowledge in bioinformatics and -omics methods.
  • Ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature and develop and apply new concepts.
