Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program (Fully Funded)

The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program is a prestigious, fully-funded opportunity for early-career educators to teach their native language and share their culture at U.S. colleges and universities. Program Overview

The program is non-renewable, and participants must return to their home countries upon completion to apply their skills and experiences.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Fulbright FLTA Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Eligibility Requirements

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of a participating country and reside in that country during the application process.
• Education: Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a strong academic record. A master’s degree is preferred at many institutions.
• Experience: Early-career educators (less than 7 years of teaching experience) in English, their native language, or related fields (e.g., American Studies, Literature, Linguistics).
• English Proficiency: Minimum TOEFL score of 79-80 (iBT), 550 (paper-based), or IELTS score of 6.0. Scores are not required at application but may be needed later.
• Teaching Interest: Genuine passion for teaching your native language and culture to U.S. students.
• No U.S. Citizenship: Applicants with U.S. citizenship or permanent residency are ineligible.

   • Personal statement and short essays (written in English, original work).
   • Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS scores, submitted later if shortlisted).
4. Avoid Plagiarism: Applications with misrepresentation or AI-generated content will be disqualified.

• Deadlines: Vary by country (July 31, 2025, for Pakistan). Check with your local Fulbright Commission.
• Visa: Participants receive a J-1 visa, requiring a two-year home-country residency after the program. Dependents are not supported.
