General Fellowship Programme at the Swedish Collegium (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the General Fellowship Programme at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) for the academic year 2027-2028. This prestigious residential fellowship supports advanced research primarily in the humanities and social sciences, offering scholars the opportunity to work independently in an interdisciplinary, stimulating environment in Uppsala, Sweden.

Fellows normally receive a monthly salary. Accommodation is typically provided and paid for by SCAS for fellows not living in the Stockholm–Uppsala region (and sometimes for those who cannot commute). It is open to early-career and senior scholars from all countries and backgrounds—no current institutional affiliation is required. There is no application fee.   • Senior scholars (PhD held ≄10 years): Show consistent, original, high-impact research at the international forefront
  • No current university or institutional position required

  • Applicants may only apply to one SCAS fellowship programme

How to Apply:

Submit your application online via the Varbi system by the deadline. Required documents (as PDFs):

  • Curriculum Vitae (max 4 pages)
  • Research project description (max 1500 words, excluding bibliography)
  • List of up to 10 major publications
  • One representative English-language article/chapter
  • Short accounts (max 100 words each): Why SCAS? How you benefit? How you contribute?
  • Copy of PhD diploma
  • Optional: Up to 3 reference letters (uploaded by you)

After submission, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Results are notified by 28 February 2027.
