SOAS University of London Scholarships for MS and PhD (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the SOAS Teaching Scholarships 2026/27 at SOAS University of London. This fully funded scholarship supports any full-time MPhil/PhD programme in any academic field. The deadline is 21 March 2026 (12 noon UK time). It is open to eligible Black British students and students ordinarily resident in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East. Eligibility Criteria:

To apply you must meet one of the following:

  • Be a permanent UK resident (Home fee status) from Black ethnic groups (Black or Black British – African, Caribbean, Other, or Mixed Black).
  • Be ordinarily resident in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East.

Additional requirements

  • You must have (or be about to receive) an offer of admission for a full-time MPhil/PhD at SOAS.
  • You must meet any English language conditions by 10 May 2026 at the latest.
  • You cannot hold this scholarship together with any other major scholarship or studentship.

Special note: One scholarship is reserved for a Palestinian national who is an ordinary resident of historic Palestine (Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem, or Palestinian citizens in Israel).

This scholarship is open to any full-time MPhil/PhD programme at SOAS University of London. There are no restrictions on the subject area — you can apply in any academic field offered by the university.

How to Apply:

Follow these two simple steps:

  1. Apply for your MPhil/PhD programme Visit the SOAS Doctoral School and submit your complete programme application as early as possible (processing can take 4–6 weeks).
  2. Apply for the scholarship Once you have applied for a programme (to get your login details), submit your scholarship application through the admissions portal by 12 noon UK time on 21 March 2026.
