Applications are now open for the Formula 1® Engineering Scholarship at Imperial College London. This fully funded undergraduate scholarship supports talented students in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on increasing diversity and encouraging careers in Formula 1® or the wider motorsports industry. The award covers full tuition fees (at the Home rate) plus a generous maintenance stipend of £16,275 per year for up to 4 years.

It is available exclusively to prospective Home (UK) fee-status students who are female and/or from underrepresented minority ethnic groups in the department. There is no application fee for the scholarship itself (though standard UCAS fees may apply for university admission). The deadline to apply is Tuesday, 31 March 2026 (11:59pm UK time). Eligibility Criteria

  • Be female and/or belong to an underrepresented minority ethnicity in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (see list below for qualifying ethnic groups).
  • Hold Home (UK) tuition fee status.
  • Have received an offer (conditional or unconditional) from Imperial College London for a full-time undergraduate course in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, starting in 2026/27.
  • Demonstrate exceptional academic merit and/or potential.
  • Show strong motivation and interest in pursuing a career in Formula 1® or the broader motorsports industry.

How to Apply

  1. Secure an offer of admission from Imperial College London for a full-time undergraduate course in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, starting in 2026/27 (apply via UCAS and meet the offer conditions by the scholarship deadline).
  2. Complete and submit the official scholarship application form by 11:59pm (UK time) on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
  3. The Department of Mechanical Engineering will review and rank eligible applications based on academic merit, potential, and motorsports motivation.
