Applications are now open for the 2026-27 GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in the UK. These prestigious, fully funded scholarships support talented individuals from sub-Saharan Africa to pursue a one-year, full-time, face-to-face MSc programme in global health and related fields. The goal is to train the next generation of leaders who will strengthen health systems and health-related research across Africa.
Three highly competitive scholarships are available. They cover full tuition fees (including mandatory field trips) and provide a tax-free living stipend of GBP 22,000. There is no separate application fee for the scholarship itself, but applicants must pay a GBP 50 admissions application fee when applying for the MSc programme (this must be processed before submission). Eligible candidates are nationals and residents of sub-Saharan African countries who plan to return home after the MSc to contribute to public health. Eligibility Criteria
- Be a national of (and currently resident in) a country in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Intend to return to sub-Saharan Africa after completing the MSc.
- Confirm (in the scholarship application) that you cannot afford the programme without this funding.
- Meet LSHTMâs minimum English language requirements and provide evidence by 15 June 2026.
- Hold a first degree equivalent to UK first class or upper second class honours.
- Hold (or be on track to receive) an offer of admission for a qualifying 2026-27 London-based intensive MSc programme at LSHTM.
Eligible programmes: Most non-distance learning intensive MSc programmes at LSHTM. Excluded (joint programmes): MSc Global Mental Health, MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing, MSc One Health, MSc Veterinary Epidemiology.

How to Apply
The process has two essential steps. Both must be completed by 04 March 2026 (16:00 BST).
Step 1: Apply for MSc Admission
- Submit an application for a 2026-27 London-based intensive MSc programme via the specific programme page on the LSHTM website (follow the âHow to Applyâ instructions).
- Pay the GBP 50 admissions application fee (processing is required before you can submit).
- Tip: Apply early (at least 2-3 days before the scholarship deadline) to avoid delays with payment or document processing. Upload all required supplementary documents by the deadline.

Step 2: Apply for the Scholarship
- After submitting your MSc application, youâll receive an automated email from [email protected] with a link to the online scholarships portal.
- Log in using the temporary password (via eVision), then update your password.
- Search for âGSK Scholarships for Future Health Leadersâ, complete all questions, and submit.
- Youâll receive a confirmation email upon successful submission.
