Applications are now open for the Jesus College, Cambridge Arts Research Fellowship 2026, offering two stipendiary fellowships for early-career researchers in Archaeology, Classics, History of Art, Linguistics, Music, Philosophy, and Politics. This fully funded fellowship, tenable for three years from 1 October 2026, provides a stipend of £32,428 per year, subsidised accommodation, and additional benefits.

Eligible candidates include graduate students nearing completion of their PhD or post-doctoral researchers recently awarded their PhD, with less than five years of full-time research experience by 1 October 2025. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Jesus College Arts Research Fellowship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Background: Hold an undergraduate degree from a university or equivalent institution.
  • Research Stage: Be either:
    • A graduate student in the later stages of research leading to a PhD, or
    • A post-doctoral researcher who has recently been awarded a PhD (or equivalent degree).
  • Research Experience: Have completed less than five years of full-time research by 1 October 2025.
  • Career Stage: The fellowship targets researchers early in their careers. Candidates with more than five years of full-time research are unlikely to be considered unless there are strong mitigating circumstances, such as:
    • Part-time research.
    • Personal circumstances affecting research progress (to be explained in the application).

Fellowship Benefits

The fellowship offers a comprehensive support package, including:

  • Stipend: Ā£32,428 per year (aligned with step 35 of the University of Cambridge salary scale, subject to annual increases).
  • Accommodation: Subsidised accommodation valued at approximately Ā£3,556 per year.
  • Bench Fee: Approximately Ā£12,000 per year (subject to review) to access University Department facilities.
  • Dining Privileges: Free lunch or dinner, whether living in or out of College.
  • Pension and Fees: Option to join the University’s Pension Scheme, with potential College contributions toward university fees where applicable.
