EERC Internship 2025 for Nigerian Nationals (Paid)

Applications are now open for the 2025 EERC Internship Program, an exciting opportunity for early-career researchers to contribute to impactful research in Nigeria’s agricultural sector. This program focuses on critical areas such as climate change, food security, climate-smart agriculture, carbon markets, green finance, and agricultural value chains.

The internship is paid, offering a monthly stipend, free accommodation, and access to EERC’s research facilities. Eligible applicants include those with a BSc or MSc degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or Climate Change, graduated within the last five years. The Environmental and Economic Resource Centre (EERC) is a non-profit research organization dedicated to advancing sustainable agriculture, livelihoods, natural resource conservation, and environmental management across Africa. Partnering with local and international stakeholders, EERC focuses on evidence-based research and capacity building to address critical issues like poverty reduction, food security, ecosystem health, and climate change. Internship Overview

The 2025 EERC Internship Program offers early-career researchers an opportunity to contribute to policy-relevant research in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, with a focus on climate change and food security. Interns will engage in one of the following thematic areas:

  • Climate Change and Food Security
  • Climate-Smart Agriculture, Carbon Markets, and Green Finance
  • Agricultural Value Chains, Food Loss, and Food Waste

Applicants must propose a feasible research project achievable within a three-month timeframe, specifying any high-quality national or regional primary data they plan to use.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold a BSc or MSc degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or Climate Change (graduated within the last 5 years)
  • Show a strong interest in research, policy, or field-based project implementation
  • Be available for the full three-month duration (full-time, onsite)
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills
  • Be willing to collaborate within a multidisciplinary research team

Selection Process

Applications will undergo a two-stage review:

  1. Initial Screening: Applications are checked for eligibility and completeness.
  2. Evaluation: A selection committee will assess applications based on eligibility, research profile (e.g., publications), and the quality of the research proposal.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed to evaluate their ability to deliver on their proposed research. Successful applicants will be notified by September 8, 2025, and must provide a letter of release from their institution or its representative upon selection.
