About the DARA PhD Fellowship Programme

Who Can Apply as a Reviewer?

To be eligible, you must:

  • Hold the rank of Associate Professor or higher (or equivalent seniority).
  • Not be affiliated with any Danish institutions to ensure impartiality.
  • Have expertise in one of DARA’s four scientific domains (listed above).
  • Commit to DARA’s Code of Conduct, including ethical standards and conflict-of-interest policies.

What Does a Reviewer Do?

As a DARA reviewer, your responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating Applications: Assess proposals based on four criteria:
    • Project Quality
    • Candidate Excellence
    • Feasibility
    • Potential Impact
  • Scoring and Feedback: Assign a numerical score (1–5) and provide concise written comments for each application.
  • Reviewing Materials: Examine application components, including:
    • A brief research summary
    • A 1,500-word project proposal
    • A motivation letter
    • Applicant’s CV and transcripts
    • A supervisor’s support letter
    • Optional materials (e.g., mentor CV, research environment description)
  • Maintaining Standards: Uphold DARA’s principles of academic rigor, fairness, and impartiality.

Compensation

Reviewers will receive €70 per evaluation, making this a rewarding opportunity to contribute to global research.

Timeline for Reviewers

  • September 12, 2025: Review assignments distributed.
  • October 15, 2025: Deadline to submit evaluations via DARA’s online platform.
  • October 31, 2025: Deadline for feedback from online consensus meetings.

    • 5 general keywords (e.g., molecular biology, AI, synthetic biology).
    • 5 specific sub-field keywords (e.g., RNA regulation, CRISPR optimization, catalysis).

These keywords will help DARA match you with relevant applications.
